August 1 – August 28 (overall dates)

Artist Calendar:

As of April 26, this is the current schedule for 2021 Pacific Northwest Plein Air in the Columbia River Gorge.
Monday, July 26 at 8:00 a.m: The orientation is across the street from Stoked Roaster & Coffeehouse 603 Portway, Unit 103 in Hood River. Afterwards the paint out begins. (Artists have been given participant contact information).
Thursday, July 29 at 4:00 p.m.: Turn in framed art at Maryhill Museum of Art. The format for this will depend on what restrictions the state of Washington has in place relative to indoor gatherings and crowd sizes. The art may be received at outside tables. It is likely that the museum will be unable to host the artist get-together in the museum’s café that evening. The café is currently closed to the public.
The show will be hung on Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31.
Peggi Kroll Robert’s workshop will occur in Hood River on July 30, and she will judge the show on July 31.
No exhibition opening is planned for Saturday night because of COVID concerns and the state regulations under which Maryhill Museum of Art must operate.
The exhibition will be open to the public during regular museum hours beginning on Sunday (August 1) and stay up for four weeks (through August 28). Our hope is that by being open for an additional week, more people will be able to view the exhibition.
Artists will pick up their work during the day on Sunday, August 29.
The museum is now in Phase 3 of reopening (out of four phases) as mandated by the state of Washington. It is currently operating at 50% capacity and admitting the public via three timed entry slots per day (10:00, 1:00, 3:00). If Klickitat County experiences a “fourth wave” Maryhill will be forced back to 25% capacity or may have to close again. Stay Tuned!

Suggested Paint Out Locations
We are making “suggested locations” for painting because The Columbia River Gorge is such a varied, vast area. Also, the weather is incredibly changeable in The Columbia River Gorge, so be prepared for anything! We hope you find this information inspiring and helpful in deciding where to paint. Talk to other painters and exchange mobile numbers to track each other down for group painting locations depending on the weather and time of day, or try using the app Waze. We know you will find your own path of inspiration and follow it.
